CGC to Visit Africa on Fortis Green Due Diligence Trip

As you read this CommonGood is on the way to Africa for a Due Diligence trip to tour recently acquired hydropower and solar investment assets in Fortis Green Renewables Fund 1, meet with co-investors and local partners, and see firsthand the day to day impact of these investments.

Among the Fund’s recent investments we’ll be touring include:

  • Spark Energy Services Company – A portfolio of what will soon be 40MW of solar installations for Commercial & Industrial users in five countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, and Nigeria (Fact Card)
  • Rwaza Hydropower Ltd – A 2.6MW operational run-of-river hydropower plant located in Musanze, Rwanda (Fact Card)
  • Hydrobox – An innovative solution of containerized hydro power plants, resulting in reduced costs and production time while allowing easy deployment in remote areas (Fact Card)

The Fund currently consists of 3 investments representing 18 hydropower and solar assets across 6 African countries, generating over 50,000 MWh of renewable energy for the second largest and second most populous continent with the world’s fastest growing population. Africa’s need for affordable, reliable, and renewable energy is huge and we aim to help fill the gap.
