Last week was my first time speaking at the Do More Good® Conference held at the Nebraska Innovation Campus. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, and wondered if it was going to be all heart and no substance. Instead, I found a gathering of people reimagining how business can help maximize human potential and flourishing (or to do more good), similar principles to why I transitioned to Impact investing a decade ago.
American investors often start from the position that you can’t have great profits and do good at the same time. But let me challenge that paradigm: could doing more good be a driver for great profits? I think you might be shocked when you look at the data. At the conference I had the pleasure of highlighting Fortis Green’s renewable energy projects – investments that drive profits and bring about human flourishing are something anyone can get behind.
